One thing we are justifiably very, very proud of in New Orleans is our extensive musical heritage. Music is our lifeblood in Louisiana: jazz, R&B, soul, funk, and hip-hop would not be what it is without New Orleans. I’ve decided to introduce a new feature for the local host blog: Music Mondays, featuring songs you’ll hear around town. Many of those featured may have passed, but their legacy lives on with a new generation of New Orleans musicians. – Eira Tansey, local host blogger
