The only place where music is almost as pervasive as in New Orleans is in Lafayette and its surrounding parishes – often know as Cajun country or more formally as Acadiana. It’s so easy to find Cajun and Zydeco music in this part of Louisiana – everywhere from bars to Sunday brunch to dance halls to public parks.
My partner and I spent this past weekend in the heart of Cajun country, and we got to experience the music from all of the incredible zydeco musicians listed in today’s Music Monday. And this is just a preview – we had such a blast that I’ll be sharing a sample weekend itinerary for Cajun country if your time and budget allows you to explore this fantastic area of Louisiana in conjunction with the joint annual meeting. -Eira, local host blogger
